20190411_Frisian Flag 2019 (Leeuwarden AFB)
From April 1st till April 12th, fighter pilots from various countries were training for complex missions in an international context during exercise "Frisian Flag 2019", hosted by Leeuwarden Air Force Base in the Netherlands.
Approximately 50 aircraft were taking off from Leeuwarden air base twice per day.
Participating countries were:
Germany - EF-2000 Eurofighter (8x)
France - M!rage2000D Dassault (4x)
UK - Cobham DA-20 (1x)
Netherlands - F-16AM Fighting Falcon (16x)
Poland - F-16C/D Fighting Falcon (8x)
United States - F-16CM Fighting Falcon (8x)
Switzerland - F-18 Hornet (4x).
Special "guests" this year were the 179th Fighter Squadron (179 FS), a unit of the Minnesota Air National Guard 148th Fighter Wing located at Duluth Air National Guard Base, Minnesota. The 179th is equipped with the General Dynamics F-16C Fighting Falcon.
