"Luchtmachtdagen 2016" is an event organised by the Royal Netherlands Air Force, held on Friday June 10th and Saturday June 11th, with a spottersday prior to the event on June 9th, 2016. During the Air Force Open Days 2016, a wide range of Dutch and foreign aircraft were on show, both in the air and on the ground. Highlight of this year's event was the first public appearance of the two F-35A's in the Netherlands. Having crossed the Atlantic from NAS Patuxent River in Maryland, escorted by two Royal Netherlands Air Force McDonnell Douglas KDC-10 tankers, the F-35A Lightning IIs gave residents near Leeuwarden and Volkel an insight into the difference in noise levels between the current F-16's and the future F-35A's...
