Walter Van Bel - Photography

Welcome to my photography site!

I started with photography when I - together with my father - visited airshows during the late sixties / early seventies. It did not take long before I asked my father to teach me the basics about photography so that I could use his camera!

I bought my first SLR when I was a student-pilot with the Belgian Air Force (1975). At that time, I was shooting mostly slides (which can be seen now on here in a scanned format) with a Canon A1 (with FD-lenses). Unfortunately, I had to leave the Air Force during training because of medical reasons. My love for aviation and photography remained. My favorite subjects for photography are - of course - aviation-related.

During the year 2000, I had my first experience with digital photography, but it was not until 2004 that I bought my first DSLR (a Canon 300D).
